Abstract for: Two Strands in the Spaghetti of Economic Inequality

Economic inequality in the US has been increasing for a half-century. This is leading to reduced social mobility, increased economic crises, lower growth and many symptoms in education, health, housing, and other sectors. Research to date has generated many explanations and proposed solutions which are being listed in an inventory. The plan is to build and test multiple modules of SD models, gradually combining them to test their relative power and timing. Later efforts aimed at lay audiences would be based on a "multi-solving approach. We have preliminary stock and flow diagrams for both strands. The first, on legal coding of capital, has been discussed extensively with K. Pistor, the author of the legal analysis upon which is based. Neither model has yet been parameterized. Two strands for two dynamic hypotheses (among many).First is a SD based description of the legal environment and processes that "code" and provide various legal protections to capital. Second is consideration of how sellers followed the increased income and wealth toward upper strata and its potential effects on inflation
